You will be treated to a variety of traditional Arabic snacks such as hommous, labana, Arabic bread, and more as Doris Hiffawi invites you to her home in the Ajami neighborhood of Jaffa. She will share her personal story of a Christian girl growing up in a Jewish, Muslim, and Christian area. Her heartfelt story shows the complexity of the mixed population city, speaks to the Arab Christian identity in Israel, and explores the true meaning of female empowerment in the area. Doris takes the opportunity to answer questions guests may have so each experience is unique. You will end your stay with famous Anton coffee and snacks. Each visit is roughly one hour.

Enjoy famous Anton coffee and sweets as Doris Hiffawi invites you to her home in the Ajami neighborhood of Jaffa. She will share her personal story of a Christian girl growing up in a Jewish, Muslim, and Christian area. Her heartfelt story shows the complexity of the mixed population city, speaks to the Arab Christian identity in Israel, and explores the true meaning of female empowerment in the area. Doris takes the opportunity to answer questions guests may have so each experience is unique. Each visit is roughly one hour & cost 500 NIS (shekels) for first 15 people, 25 each shekels after that.

My Bio
How I Got Started
I’m Doris Hiffawi, the founder of Jaffa Stories and Coffee, and I’m here to guide you on your next memorable visit in Jaffa, Tel-Aviv, Israel.
My family has been in the Jaffa area for generations spanning over 100 years. We have been in the business of roasting and making coffee for over 60 years. I love to share my stories and my deep ties to the community with all guests who come to visit my home.
As a girl I attended school at Collège des Frères de Jaffa, where I made many friends and enjoyed my time studying. At the age of eight I started helping my parents at our restaurant on the beach. I have always loved being around people and experience an active life. Some of my best memories were in the summer working at the ice cream and dessert stand my family had. I loved how people would depend on me for a cool down when it was warm outside.
When I was younger, everyone would say I was a bit of a tomboy. As I grew into my teens I expanded my horizons and even participated in the Palestinian Beauty Pageant.
My life was like a dream when I married my husband, who was the boy next door. We have three beautiful children together and I couldn’t be happier.
I have been hosting people in my home for the last ten years. I was inspired by the Academy Award nominated film Ajami and started sharing my home. It has been a wonderful experience to be able to share what I know about Jaffa with visitors from around the globe. I speak English, Hebrew, and Arabic. I hope that you’re able to meet me at my home.

The Anton Coffee Deli was founded in 1888 and we are the fourth generation working in the coffee business. Our unique method of roasting and grinding the coffee beans makes our coffee very special and appreciated all over Israel. The coffee beans are selected carefully and the coffee grinding is done on the spot to ensure freshness and to preserve the fragrance and the aroma of the coffee.
